The diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Japan were established on January 26, 1992. The Embassy of Kazakhstan was opened in Tokyo in February 1997. Since April 2007 the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Japan is H.E. Mr. Akylbek A. Kamaldinov. In November 2011 the Embassy was relocated to Azabudai, Minato Ward of Tokyo.
